Good Deeds Day - Be part of a day that is all good!

  Ruach Tova

On Wednesday the 25th of March we invite you to take a break from your daily routine and join us for the third annual "Good Deeds Day".

As part of the project, initiated by Sheri Arison and organized by "Ruach Tova" (Non-profit Organization), you can volunteer individually or as a group in a social project of your choice in your area. So what will be your good deed today?

Every one of us has something to give, even just a smile, and there is always someone who'll be happy to receive.  With this world view the annual tradition of "Good Deeds Day" began in May 2007.  Last year, 2008, over 12,000 Israelis took part in the day, young and old, students and soldiers, business employees, scouts, special ed students, artists, activists and private people.  Volunteers in several hundred locations throughout the country listened, fixed, supported, sweat, lent a hand, initiated and mostly "did good" for others and for themselves.  50,000 hours of volunteering were the result of a common goal of doing good for Israeli society.

"'Good Deeds Day' began with the though that it is a privilege for us to help our peers and community using our abilities.  A good deed can be small or big so long as it allows us to give to another and feel good as a result.

Even just a smile can be your good deed.  'Good Deeds Day' has become a symbol of giving.  Many companies and private people have joined the initiative by doing good for the benefit of others. 'Good Deeds Day' has become a platform through which a different kind of kinship is formed." says Sheri Arison, Chairman of Arison Group.

This year "Goods Deeds Day" will be held on Wednesday, March 25th.  All Israelis will once again be invited to stop their daily routine and take part in the spirit of volunteering by helping: children abandoned by their parents, solitary elderly, those with mental and physical handicaps, new immigrants trying to immerse in Israeli society, and the poor in need of food and clothing.

We do not ask to donate money, instead we offer opportunities to spend a few hours by doing good for others.  Every one of you can be a part of a day that is all good, a day when thousands of people will open up their hearts to the needs of others and will try to help them even just a little bit.  You can volunteer in your area, together with your colleagues and in a project that is close to your heart.

"Good Deeds Day" was initiated by Shari Arison, owner of The Arison Group, organized by "Ruach Tova" (NGO) and supported by the Ted Arison Family Fund.   This is the first day of its kind where you can choose your private good deed and together we can help strengthen the spirit of benevolence, of good will towards others.

The idea is that any one can get up in the morning and ask himself ‘what can I do for my neighbor, to help a new immigrant, to help Israeli society as a whole?'" says Rafi Elol, CEO of "Ruach Tova".  "We aim to increase the national level of volunteering," he continues,"and to show that not only those with means can help others."
